Standard 1

Scientific and Theoretical Knowledge
Physical Education teacher candidates know and apply discipline-specific scientific concepts critical to the development of physically educated individuals.

Element: 1.3-  Describe and apply motor development theory and principles related to skillful movement, physical activity, and fitness.

Date: Fall 2011 Lab

Reflection: Motor development lab 4 was to observe the motor skills of students at St. Mary's Elementary School. Our task for that day was to observe the motor skills of a boy and a girl while they performed an over hand throw and catch. Their abilities to perform these skills helped me recognize and correct them. As a physical educator, it is very important to be able to recognize strengths and weaknesses in students motor skills. It is my job to provide step by step progressions and demonstrate each element of each motor skill.
